description: One of the most challenging objectives of this design were to integrate the client’s program requirement of having a conference area, advisor workstation and a circulation path within the 18′ width of the space.  As a result of the narrow footprint, we decided immediately to use glass in lieu of solid walls to reduce the impact.  This gave the spaces the sense of privacy and acoustic isolation while allowing visual access and thereby downplaying the dividing effect which solid walls can have.  Angled walls also respond to the non-linear perimeter of the space while custom furniture designed specifically for this project infill the space along the wall to make the layout feel as though the open office areas, the interior circulation and the executive office spaces were interwoven into one another.  We interpreted the wooden slatted hull of a ship and applied fields of these vertical slats along the glazing of the conference room wall.
