description: This project was a true collaboration between historic preservation consultants, the Community Redevelopment Agency, architects, contractors and homeowners.
With limited budgets available to preserve and/or rehabilitate each façade, our challenge was to balance the needs of the homeowners with the need [whose need?] to restore the architectural character of the homes & neighborhood. The results included simple solutions to address architectural character: removing stucco wrapping, exposing original masonry, tucking & repointing masonry and repairing siding. Security was also a concern—improved lighting, protection around openings and protected front porches were identified as the greatest needs.
