description: The Charlie Keyan Armenian Community School envisions a new entry feature that will draw attention and generate excitement for the school’s newfound direction. The feature will be located in the entry motor court and shall be seen by daily visitors and public passerby through the adjacent thoroughfare. The single most important design driver in our design process was that the design have meaning and relay a message about the past, present and future impact which the school has had on the local Armenian community.
Our concept is quite simple: The form is based upon three vectors.
Vector 01 Represents the school’s first 25 years – it is the longest and only horizontal vector. It is meant to represent the longstanding, consistent history of the school.
Vector 02 Represents the brief yet uncertain period which the school persevered through in the past four years. It gestures downward yet never actually breaks the plane of the ground surface.
Vector 03 Represents the promise and energy which is present across the campus community today. Under new leadership, located on a new campus and amidst a growing Armenian Community, the school’s future trajectory should be purely upward.
